If you love sonorous, huge
sounds, then you'll LOVE this CD from the pen of Wendy Mae Chambers,
the composer most well-known for her uses of large ensembles
of same instruments. In this she has outdone herself, as 77 of
the world's finest trombonists all converge on New York City's
Cathedral of Saint John the Divine. With a thirteen (13!) second
echo, and the wonderful interpretation and variation by Chambers
on some Gregorian chants, plus the unbelievable sound of the
biggest trombone choir imaginable, this is unlike anything you've
heard before! The only thing better is to have been one of the
lucky few who actually witnessed the event! |
